Looking past the fact that today the resurrection of Christ has been reduced to an idolatry that paints eggs to the goddess Ishtar, we who believe are reminded that Christ has risen. For indeed death stalks every man who amassing wealth, houses and children to themselves as did King Solomon, are likewise devastated at the realisation that upon death they shall lose everything. For casting-off all restraint King Solomon ‘for our learning’ chose to deny himself nothing in the pursuit of earthly desires that promised much but delivered only temporal pleasures.
Therefore he took wives by the hundreds and refused to deny himself anything that his eyes desired amassing children, chambers of gold, silver and rubies as the stones in the field. He built great monuments, armies and houses in the forest and received a great name to whom came kings, queens and the great men of the earth that they might hear of his wisdom yet the realisation that he should lose all at his death he was devastated, and drank himself silly knowing that as the fool dies so shall he, even as the beast that eats grass.
17 - Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
18 - Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
19 - And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.
This is not so for those who hope in Christ who are rather bolstered in our temporal afflictions by the remembrance of Christ’s resurrection, for rather than despair we have hope even in our death!
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his [own] death.
For the ‘Faith of Abraham’ states that “God is faithful to keep His promises” to the point that He is not only willing, but able to raise the dead to fulfill them. And this sure hope is witnessed daily by those who do not believe, who rather are perplexed by our ability to hope in our afflictions of a chaste life [1 Pet 4:4]. For many endure great mocking [Esp, in Islamic Nations], unjust persecutions and troubles unto death yet bare them manfully fixing their eyes on Him who gave such promises that we with them might endure with Christ the shame of the Cross.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
And I believe Him, who said of the Son that He would raise Him from the dead to sit on the throne of David once having paid for sin...
30 - Therefore [King David] being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 - He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in
hell [Hades], neither his flesh did see corruption [as it lay in the tomb].
32 - This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Indeed, the Father not only kept His word to David that He would raise one of his descendants, even Christ from the dead to sit upon his throne but shall raise us up also who believe that we might live in hope and not the anguish of those who all of their lives were subject to the fear of death [Heb 2:15].
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
All the Jews had to do to refute Jesus’ claim that He was their Messiah was produce His corpse four days after His death, because the scriptures stated that Messiah [Christ] would rise on the third day after His death, but they could not because He had risen.
62 - Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63 - Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64 - Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65 - Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66 - So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Rather, having found tomb open, the seals broken and the guards fled the body of Jesus could not be found because He had risen, just as Jesus had told them.
1 - Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2 - And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3 - And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 - And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5 - And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6 - He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7 - Saying, The Son of man [Jesus] must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8 - And they remembered his words,
The Antichristian religions of Islam [1 Jn 2:22], Paganism and science [so called] with some even daring to go so far as to offer you the ‘false gospel of a Second Chance’ in the form of reincarnation which the Scriptures strictly deny [Heb 9:27], would deny you this free gift of salvation.
But know this, that even now death stalks you and desires to hold your soul in Hades until judgement of sins past, which having received shall be cast with Hades [Rev 20:14] into Hell. But for your sakes Christ has not only paid for sins but entered that Hades and defeated it’s authority taking it for Himself [Rev 1:18]; And if you will but put your trust in Him offers you as He does me, a ‘certain and sure’ hope even in our deaths, even the resurrection unto eternal life reserved for all that put their trust in Him.
25 - For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 - And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 - Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
But how can you hope in Him who you do not know? Then get to know him in the very same way you would get to know a good friend, by spending time with Him in His Word.
