The hammer and the chisel in the hand of the master craftsman.
And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an helper for him.
Men and Women are not equal yet neither is the man greater than the women, or for that matter the women than the man but both are two differing parts of the same, even Adam who was at the beginning these two brought together once more via the institution of marriage for this fleeting life that they might fulfil the works of God.
1 Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Indeed, as the hammer without a chisel struggles to accomplish his mission in life so the man without the women, and the women without her husband yet the Godly press-on to accomplish that which is set before them. Now if the hammer and chisel submitting to their God-given roles are taken-up in the hands of the master craftsman, then there shall come forth a work that shall draw many to salvation.
Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
Yet today, having been leavened by the doctrine of an enemy many women within the Church having cast aside their god-given roles declare that they are not only hammers but to accommodate this new role godly men must become that which God never made them, even a chisel in the hand of these women until they bring-forth their idol, even that Jezebel to whom many have already bow the knee.
Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
God’s deep well vs Hollywood’s shallows.
Song of Solomon 8:6
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
30 - For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 - For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 - This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 - Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Regarding the Christian marriage which is a picture of Christ and His Bride the Church, Hollywood would have us believe that if we were to accept its definition of love it would carry us upon a whirlwind of romance over the hill and into a wondrous land where tears having been banished, death is nothing more than a defeated foe of a bygone age which simply isn’t the case. Still, there is a love for the believer that is much stronger than death and although it can be found today, it shall not be fully realised until He who has promised comes. On that day none of the wicked shall find any comfort the shallow love of Hollywood nor indeed their houses, children, good looks, position, wealth or power in which they trusted but shall suddenly understand their error.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-10
7 - And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 - In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 - Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 - When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
May Cupid’s Arrow be true.
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
I can’t remember the amount of times I have come across those whose main reason for going to the House of God was to find a spouse, and there’s nothing wrong with that in itself but Paul warns the believer that with the time being so short we should take care who we marry because there is real a danger that if our motives are of the world, our ministry may be hindered rather than blessed.
1 Corinthians 7:32-34
32 - But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
33 - But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 - There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
King Solomon is a good example of how it can all go wrong when showing no restraint he married whosoever he wished, and not who he ought until lead astray by the wiles of his worldly wives he forgot God to exalt devils, bringing upon himself spoilers and dividing the kingdom that came after him.
1 Kings 11:3
And [Solomon] had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
In a sense there appears to be a conflict, where Paul states that it is much better to remain single yet proverbs as elsewhere makes it very clear that marriage is a blessing from God. In fact, as already quoted God said from the beginning that...
It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an helper for him.
The problem isn’t that difficult to resolve really, because there is an hint in the text suggesting that the man should not only find a helper to carry-out the work set before him thus not a hinderer, but that the women a man to assist that she may also receive her reward, but to what end? That they should work together merely to excel in this life in building houses, buying lands and filling their hearts with selfish gain thereafter to die coughing-up their spittle before their children in the hospital bed, and this to a certain judgement and everlasting condemnation? I think not. But rather as it was in the beginning, that walking in their gender roles they might put their shoulders to the work set before them and serve God wherein id true joy with an everlasting reward.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
So then, it is good to be married if it forwards your ministry but if it hinders it is better to remain alone. Yet if a person can not contain themselves, Paul states that we should marry that we do not fall into condemnation of the devil through fornication which is worse.
1 Corinthians 7:2-3
2 - Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
3 - Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
So why should we be concerned, we’re Christians right? certain of our salvation so lets just get on with it and enjoy the world while looking forward to the fulfilment of the promises. Well that’s an option but there are a few things we would do well to consider first.
First and foremost everyone should understand that death shall not cover our sins as many might have hoped, because unfortunately for the wicked the soul not only can and does exist apart from the body, this can happen during our lives while the body is still functioning...
2 Corinthians 12:2-4
2 - I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 - And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 - How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
And after our body has failed us, Jesus bring the prime example when with His body laying in the tomb His soul descended into Hades below to conquer it and death, thereafter to remove Paradise from that place and all those trusting souls within it who had before the Cross trusted for His appearing and promised payment for sin. These He took with Him to the third Heaven when He ascended...
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One[’s body] to see corruption [while it lays in the tomb].
The scriptures state unequivocally that following death, there will be a judgement for everyone both the just and the wicked who know not God...
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
The wicked shall be turned into hades, and all the nations that forget God.
The wicked, being the souls of those who died with an out standing of debt of death for sins still clinging to them having rejected Christ’s payment at the Cross, these shall descend immediately into hades where once Jesus was, there to remain until called to judgement.
Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hades: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
A judgement it should be said, not to determine if they should be sentenced to Hell or not for that is a certain being guilty having rejected Christ, but rather to determine a fitting position in Hell worthy meet for their sins...
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
But what about the righteous where will they be? Well, the scripture still stand that states ‘after death comes the Judgment’ for both the wicked and as well as the just but for us who believe not to determine a place in Hell for sins passed, because Christ paid for them but rather to receive rewards or suffer loss regarding how we ordered ourselves in this life since we knew Him to whom we must give an account.
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Therefore, our works will be tried to determine of what sort the are. If of the flesh they shall not be reckoned for a reward but if through obedience to Christ we have used the gifts He has bestowed upon us wisely, working not in the flesh but rather Christ working through us then we shall receive a reward.
1 Corinthians 3:13-15
13 - Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 - If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 - If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
And so blessed having received our commission we shall enter the Kingdom...
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
The Kingdom and our Rewards.
The Kingdom that follows this age will be on this earth and not in the new mentioned in...
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Clearly stated in...
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
A picture of which is spoken of by Daniel the prophet, where everyone agrees that the image that is destroyed by the Rock which is Christ at His coming, represents the kingdoms of men...
34 - Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 - Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
...Which then spreads to encompass the whole earth.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
So there is allot at stake here, which is why Paul seeing the prize of the Kingdom urges believers not to be hindered either by an unprofitable spouse who cares more for this age than the next, or urges those who are unable to bring their body into obedience to marry least they fall into the condemnation of fornication. But the thrust is that we should not be hindered but rather helped, that each should receive a full reward.
I have no children but if I did, I would rather one with no school grades but obeyed me than ten sons with A levels and degrees who did not, and so it is with God.
For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
Therefore let us each take on the commission given us and not look to take-up another’s role. For a believing marriage can not reach its full potential regarding the works of God unless each submits to the role given them, and that by God who is above all.
22 - Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 - For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 - Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 - Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
25 - But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 - And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 - And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
