Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
It is so clear throughout Scripture that if we love God, we will keep his commandments which are not grievous... as many think.
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
Then God will send us His Holy Spirit, who will dwell in, and with us forever.
15 - “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16 - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always,
17 - the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you”.
And as the Godhead is one, this means that Jesus and the Father will also make their home with us.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him”.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you.
By informing us in Exodus 20:5, that those who keep God’s commandments love Him... verse 6 makes it abundantly clear that those who keep not His commandments... hate Him.
5 - you shall not bow down before [other gods] or serve them. For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their ancestors’ wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation;
6 - but showing love down to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.
And more, for we are clearly told that those who hate God actually love death! The author of which is Satan. Therefore might we say that “those who hate God love Satan?”
But he who sin against me wrong their own souls: [in fact] all they that hate me love death.
Last night a friend and I visited an elder friend who is sick, and being Halloween I expected to see some ‘celebrating’ that event as we took our journey. In fact I was to a large degree taken back by the shear scale of the ‘celebrations’... seeing gangs of little children shepherded by their supposed ‘living dead’ parents dressed-up as vampires, zombies and the dead, and this in every small village and town.
This brought to mind what people today choose to call “entertainment”, many opting as I once did, to ‘enjoy’ a good movie where they can on a regular basis experience the reality of rotting, torn and half eaten flesh. A reality that as you will soon see, will one day be realised by many.
For I was reminded again of the two striking differences between Hades below, and Hell which exists outside of our time domain.
For Hades is where those departed having been separated from their bodies at death, await one of two resurrections. And let us remind ourselves just what a resurrection is, a resurrection is when a bodiless soul is resurrected back to life in a body.
I have the same hope in God as they themselves have that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Before the Cross those who died trusting in Christ’s promise to deliver them from death, where kept separated from the damned by a great gulf in a place called “Paradise” back then within Hades below [in a different dimension], which after Christ’s victory and payment for the sins of those who trusted in Him, He took with Him to Heaven.
2 Corinthians 12:1-4
1 - I must boast; not that it is profitable, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2 - I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows), was caught up to the third heaven. [Where God resides]
3 - And I know that this person (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows)
4 - was caught up into Paradise and heard ineffable things, which no one may utter.
My point to is this, that the damned in Hades are bodiless souls waiting one of two resurrections, even the resurrection of the damned. Now again, that they are resurrected means that they shall receive a body for the purpose of standing at ‘The Great White Throne Judgement’ [Rev 20:11-12], a place where their deeds in the days of the flesh will be examined, [the books are opened] deeds I might add, that having rejected Christ’s payment for sins shall determine their eternal abode in Hell. Therefore, just as the Antichrist and the False Prophet, we also know that the damned will be cast alive in their bodies straight into Hell following their sentencing at the Great White Throne Judgement.
The beast was caught and with it the false prophet who had performed in its sight the signs by which he led astray those who had accepted the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped its image. The two were thrown alive into the fiery pool burning with sulphur.
These things came to mind when passing through the towns and villages of sleepy Norfolk on Halloween, even that the masses who hate God seem to have been fooled into celebrating a reality that most will experience for an enternity.
The Devil who had led them astray was thrown into the pool of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet were. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Therefore we can understand better, Jesus’ seemingly extreme attitude to sin when He said...
47 - And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. Better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna,
48 - where ‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
If Jesus actually meant for us to pluck our eyes out is neither here nor their, for you can bet on this... that those who find themselves in Hell will wish they had rather done so than experience for real, the Hollywood entertainment they once choose rather than the commands of God.
But of cause this fascination with death is quite normal ‘isn’t it?’ Which I’m quite sure our learned men of psychology could give a thousand reasons for... even that little children should be taught celebrate death rather than life, run with glee towards the limping forms and rotting flesh of family and friends, rather than running from. Whose own parents sit night after night mesmerised by the same, having spent their hard earned wages on... that they might experience through the silver screen, a reality that most will one day experience forever.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
