Shari’ah Law is the white-washed tomb of Anjem Choudary which has a form of godliness but denies the power thereof. [2 Tim 3:5]
25 - Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 - Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 - Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 - Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Just as Islam’s Shari’ah Law, so too did the far older ‘Law of Moses’ fail to deal with our sinful nature but rather exposed it. For although the law attempts to restrain the effects of ‘The Fall’ through fear of punishment, it clearly fails to prevent our hearts desiring the very things it prohibits.
For instance, when those self-righteous Jews dragged the women caught in the very act adultery before Jesus, He only had to say...
“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
...to expose those who were accusing her of breaking the Law, of being Law breakers themselves. For if anyone keeps all of the law but fails on just one point, he is guilty of breaking all.
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
Consider for a moment Mohammed, who just like those self-righteous Jews could not bare the same laws he thought to lay upon his followers, a convenient revelation [cough splutter] allowing him to take nine wives, while every other Muslim could ‘only’ take four.
So let us acknowledge this, that not only have our man-made laws [Including Shari’ah] failed to restrain the out-workings of sin in our lives but the Law of Moses too, our bulging prisons populations testifying to this fact. And that being the case have exposed the real problem with Mankind, that there is deep within each one of us a raging tendency to rebel and do wickedly, not only against one another but against our conscience and a Holy God.
The heart [of Mankind] is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Thus the reason God gave us the Law was not to condemn us, but rather to help us understand that far from being free to do the good we wish, we are actually slaves to the sin reigning in our hearts, which having taken us captive then deceives us into doing the very things that we hate! Even those things that are not only ruining our own lives, but hurting the very people we love and respect! [Be that via infidelity, drunkenness, anger, drugs, porn, gossip, slander, pride or whatever.]
I don’t understand what’s happening to me...
For I can’t live as I know I should, but actually keep on doing the very things that I hate!
• OK, by this time some of you might be thinking...
This guy has a point, I’m sick of hurting those I care for because of [drink, lust, infidelity, rage, jealousy, regret, suspicion, unforgiveness etc...], but just when I think I have it beat it raises it’s ugly head again. This is tearing us apart and breaking my heart in the process, so what I intend to do is make one last MASSIVE effort to stop doing it, and this time is going to be different, I PROMISE!!!
If that is what you really believe then you have completely misunderstood everything I have said.
Again, the purpose of the Law was never to justify anyone before God, BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT WE COULD NEVER KEEP IT IN OUR FALLEN STATE, though we might try [albeit, often in our own way], but rather the purpose of the Law was to expose sin dwelling within the flesh!
because by the works of the Law nobody can be justified before God; because it is through the Law that we become aware of our sin.
Have you got it yet? If you have you have received something far more precious than gold, something that so many having wilfully refused remain in darkness to this very day, a precious gift that has now brought you to the doors of a NEW LIFE. Doors that you might very well soon enter in ‘if’ you will only press-on now to discover just what Christ accomplished for you upon a Cross, when He took all of our sins away.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the DOORS WILL BE OPENED.
For just as ‘night vision goggles’ expose the things hidden in darkness, so too does ‘The Law’ expose the sin hiding in our hearts, a kind of ‘heart-vision’ if you please. That having seen, we might finally seek the only known cure for our terrible condition, Christ Jesus crucified. Even the prophesied Messiah, of whom it was foretold would fulfill all of the Law that we have failed to keep...
2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had NO SIN to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Thereafter to pay the penalty for all of times we have and shall trample His righteous laws under our feet, when He hung upon a Cross and took our sins away...
21 - And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,
22 - he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,
That having been made right with God through faith in His death and resurrection, we might receive...
• The Holy Spirit.
• A New Nature
• And the POWER to live a NEW LIFE holy and pleasing before Him!
However, maybe you prefer to ‘give it just one more shot’ on your own terms rather than turning to Christ because of ‘The Shame of the Cross’ [Hebrews 12:2]. Well good luck with that for I can tell you through bitter experience that you will not only fail to keep the standards that God has set, but fail miserably to adhere to the new standards you yourself have deemed to be good and correct. Which soon breaking must accept that you have willingly chosen to do that which even you have deemed to be evil, bringing condemnation upon yourself. And then what are you going to do, make even more vows and lofty promises, redouble your efforts and try again? Come-on!
Granted the law has partially restrained the outward workings of sin in our lives, but has failed miserably to deal with its presence. For just as the untended garden so sin left unchecked revives and overwhelms. Why? because the law never actually dealt with the root of the problem - SIN DWELLING IN OUR FLESH, which through the destruction of the body Christ not only conquered, but through His resurrection gave us a new heart, if we will but learn to trust in Him.
I’m reminded of the words of an old work colleague, whom having watched Burka wearing Saudis embark in Arabia, watched in astonishment as they disembarked from the plane in the West wearing little more than a short skirt and flimsy tops. Thus real freedom from sin does not come from either keeping or casting off The Law, but rather through Christ Jesus our Lord who took all of our sins away...
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death..
Two bothers lose their hands for stealing under Shariah, but do they still covet other men’s goods in their hearts?
