Where the textual Defence?
If a militant group of Christians used...
“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”
...to justify beheading those who reject the Gospel, and this on the same scale that Islam beheads those who reject the teaching of the Koran today, then the majority of Christians would spill onto the streets to protest against such an erroneous interpretation of scripture.
So why aren’t Muslims spilling-out onto the streets after friday prayers in Bradford, Manchester and London to protest against the ‘supposed’ erroneous misinterpretation of...
So when you meet those who disbelieve in battle, behead them...
...and such other like text, if indeed they are being misinterpreted? For when Jesus made the above comment, He immediately followed it up with the words...
35 - For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law
36 - a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
37 - “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 - Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 - Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
Making it abundantly clear just whom that sword shall be brought against, obviously not against those who reject the Gospel but rather against those who adhere to it. Whom in our affliction must decide just whom we follow, the ‘god of this age’ by taking-up the sword as does Islam, or Christ, made manifest by taking-up the Cross!
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight...
I sincerely believe that the majority of Muslims here in the West completely and utterly deplore the heinous practice of beheading in the name of Allah, but unable to textually rebuke those who do, find they can not defend against the deafening roar of silence proceeding from ‘moderate Islam’. Whom if genuinely sincere, should at the very least begin to search their hearts regarding these issues if not consider the Gospel message rather than outright rejecting it.
He that answers a matter before hearing it, it is folly and shame to him.
For there is far more at stake here than fighting for a religion, culture, beloved tradition or a belief system... but rather the salvation of our souls.
Be you a Jew, Muslim, Christian or an Atheist... with hindsight, which one of you would have invested in the Titanic before she sailed?
But I tell you that this age is coming to an end, and a new shall emerge where righteousness dwells. Then stop gorging upon the overripe fruits of this age, soon to become ashes between in your teeth once you have vomited them up, but rather fix your eyes firmly upon the kingdom to come, whose star has already begun to rise in the clear morning of a new day.
2 Peter 3:10-13
10 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11 - Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
12 - looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13 - Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
