The Redefinition of Marriage

I’ve been meaning to do a video regarding the ‘Proposed Redefinition of Marriage’ for ages now, but when your productive life has been so diminished by an illness, such as M.E. (CFS) you have to weigh your priorities very carefully indeed. And as God’s Word is as essential to my Spirit as eating is to my body, having so read I am left with very little time to do much else.
Although I do have the beginnings of a video laid-out... as yet I haven’t had an opportunity to edit it in a fashion that would do the subject justice. However, I thought I’d at the very least write a few words before the Governments tries to steamroller this ungodly proposal through on the 5th of February, 2013.

Setting aside the social issues for a moment, I would like to take a biblical look at this issue, the basis of which is highlighted quite well I think, in the video I created last year called “Women Bishops - Are there gender-roles in the Church?”

OK… here we go...

When God made Mankind he was a single entity…

Genesis 2:7
the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

This single entity was, as are the angels in heaven... ‘a son of god’ Why? because like they, Adam had been created directly by God and not born of another, this is clearly seen in the genealogy of Christ, where all but Adam were born of a women...

Luke 3:37-38
37 - the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Kenan,
38 - the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

Again, Adam was not born of a women, but was as the Angels, created directly by God. However, unlike the angels, God said of the Man who He had made in His image…

Genesis 2:18
...“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Then having sought for a companion for Adam among all that He had made, but finding none… God chose not to create him a companion from dust of the ground, as He had Adam earlier, but rather took Eve ‘Out of Adam’.

Eve, taken-out of Adam

Genesis 2:21-22
21 - So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh.
22 - Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

Therefore all of the attributes that originally had been allocated to our Race, even Mankind... now spanned not one person... but two genders. For Eve was not a clone of Adam nor did she add anything too Mankind at her appearance, for she was taken-out of Adam. Then today, the species of Mankind is no longer limited to one, but consists of both Male and Female.

Mankind comprises of two genders

Therefore, with Mankind’s attributes now spanning both sexes, they can only brought together again as one, in the union of a heterosexual Marriage, where once again all of the original attributes of Mankind... will be present, as says our Lord…

The Union of Marriage

Mark 10:6-8
6 - “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’
7 - ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
8 - and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one.

Therefore this ‘biblical’ union of ‘One flesh’… is impossible to attain with two of the same gender; Why? Because such a union not only lacks the physical, emotional and spiritual attributes found solely in the opposite sex, but have doubled-up on the ones they do have!

Same-sex Unions are not Marriage

Now the consummation of the union of marriage is the heterosexual sexual act, (not disgraceful deviant acts, that defile) an act that has implications that span far beyond the five senses… and even procreation itself. A blessing when enjoyed within God’s clear criteria... but a source of misery, toil and trouble when acted upon outside of these limitations.
That is one of the main reasons that even ‘heterosexual intercourse’ performed outside of the protective institution of marriage is so terrible, because when two lay together they become one flesh, and form not only physical ties, but strong emotional and spiritual bonds also. And once such bonds have been established, if strong they can at times become almost impossible to sever, leaving either one or both parties suffering physical, emotional and spiritual torment for years if separated, and maybe even for their entire lives.

And worse still, if a person be already joined to another in the institution of marriage, and being found so then seeks to be joined to another in an adulterous affair, they have in some way become a monstrous creature... being joined to multiple people at the same time, but fear not, as God can set you free if you should turn to Him in truth and repentance!

Psalm 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

So be very particular with whom you join yourself, and once joined in the union of marriage... do not seek to be joined to another, for by these acts people defile themselves before God. And if that be the case with the heterosexual, how much more serious shall it be if two of the same sex join themselves to one another in acts of depravity?

For if our Lord has commanded us not to join ourselves with another outside of the institution of a heterosexual Marriage...

1 Corinthians 6:15-16
15 - Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
16 - Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

...what shall be the end of those who use the body to perform disgraceful acts, one with another... such acts that leave the seed of a man to die hopelessly in human excrement... and other acts too vile to mention?

1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

And if Christians who fight to keep God’s commandments are going to be judged by what they did in the flesh, both good and bad, what terrible judgement is going to fall upon those who keep not the commandments of God?

1 Peter 4:17
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

All ‘true’ Christians have been joined by faith to the body of Christ, for even as a husband and his wife become one, so we The Bride of Christ [The Church] have become one with Him by faith.

Ephesians 5:30-32
30 - for we are members of his body.
31 - “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
32 - This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.

I do hope that I haven’t confused you too much, and that at the very least you have understood that, if you believe in God or not… the Biblical definition of ‘Marriage’ is, and will always will be between a male and a female. And since the very foundation of the Church, even the very reason for its existence is owed to the Word of God [The Bible], forcing the Church to wed same-sex couples is forcing the Church to commit hypocrisy.
And regarding those who call themselves ‘Christian ministers’, who rather than expose sin, celebrate it by feigning God’s approval for such ceremonies and the vile acts associated with them, I say this:

“That it would have been “better for you if you had died” than to have caused struggling Christians to cast off their Cross, and commit acts that are clearly forbidden in Scripture.”

Mark 9:42
“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea”.

Jesus did not die only to pay for our sins, but also to give those who trust in Him the power to overcome sin!

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Now if you are a Christian who struggles with same-sex attraction because of ‘The Fall’, pick-up your Cross with me and let us follow Christ, for although I do not suffer same-sex attraction, I also... as does every Christian, struggle with lusts and temptations that God has clearly commanded me to abstain from. For haven’t we just read...

1 Cor 10:13a
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind

But I hear you cry, “you ask too much, you ask me to live a life of utter solitude”. When did resisting same-sexual attractions become the only path that might caused a man to walk alone? Haven’t others chosen that way for much less? And yet there are others, whom for no fault of their own have found themselves set upon that lonely trail. I speak of cause of the poor, the imprisoned, the sick, the isolated by circumstance, bereavement, illness or location. And what of those who ‘The Fall’, injury or accident has left no comeliness to draw the interest of a spouse? Yet still after all of this, Christ has said...

Luke 18:29
29 - “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God
30 - will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Cease leaning on your own understanding [Prov 3:5], because we follow the living God, who searches the reigns of the heart and has said...

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.

Why, I myself am ill and alone, nailed to a bed of sickness almost 24/7. Then tell me friend, should I save my pennies to pay for ‘a lady of the night’ that I might satisfy the yearning of a fallen nature, too obey rather than God? And if I should manage to gather the strength, seek a wayward women in the bars and taverns of some local town... or more, seek solace in the outrages of pornography? For surely God knows my situation, my loneliness and grief... surely He would understand and forbear judgement! But NO! I am commanded to take-up my Cross, deny myself and follow Him. It is not He who must change... but we must change, and by so doing shall find peace, joy and the abundant life that can only be found in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

It matters not to me if a person is LGBT, or whatever form of corruption ‘The Fall’ has laid upon them [Jeremiah 17:9]. Nor if once they had corrupted themselves [Exodus 32:7]... or even as Romans 1:26 declares, ‘God Himself has given them over to vile affections’ because of their many crimes. But if they will with us who believe, pick-up their Cross, confess and turn from their sins... then they are my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus no matter what, who standing shoulder to shoulder with me in the army of God... have at the last, picked-up their sword and entered the battle.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

My companions and brethren in Christ our Lord, do we at times slip in the heat of battle, might we even for a moment fall, to be trampled upon just when victory seemed sure? Yes at times maybe, but less and less as we learn to war, taught by our commander and chief, even He who lifts us up should we stumble. Defeat is not falling in the heat of battle my friends, but not bothering to get-up again when our commanders calls, that is defeat!

Proverbs 24:16
for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.

Join with me then, as we march onward to certain victory, for the news is out, a rumour, a cry... that the enemy has been defeated! And the kingdom is ours for the taking my friend, even today if we will rise-up in faith, and just take it!

Colossians 2:15
And having disarmed the powers and authorities [Satan and his angels] he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
