I just made a comment on someone’s Youtube channel, well one of their videos where the question was asked ‘Can a person be born gay?’ And since I still have my 500 character answer on my clipboard, I thought I may as well paste it here. I would like to say that I am, as always... open to ‘scriptural correction’, as I know full well that many Christians would disagree with me on this issue.
As stated, I had to post my message with only 500 characters, but below I shall post roughly the same, but with the full scriptural text quoted, here goes...
The Fall has corrupted us all...
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned
That we can further corrupt ourselves...
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt”.
And that under certain criteria, God may give others over to inconvenient affections.
26 - Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27 - In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
So I concur that someone can be born gay, but if they follow Christ, as thief and adulterer must, they must pick-up their cross and follow Him.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
And Christians must judge other ‘believers’ on this basis...
1 Corinthians 5:12
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
So that was my post, which on this occasion doesn’t seem to have gone down too badly, at least so far. Generally what happens is this, people reason within themselves the following...
The Bible states that same-sex sexual acts, are an abomination. Therefore Christians hate all LGBT people.
And believe me, quite often it is as simple as that! It appears that they do not take the time to consider what they are saying, because by that standard Christians should hate every one who has ever broken even one of God’s laws, and that includes all liars, thieves, adulterers, fornicators etc, as well as those living the LGBT lifestyle. In fact Christians should even hate one another, for though we have crucified the desires of the flesh, taking-up our cross and denying ourselves... even Christians fall short at times. An outspoken word driven by anger, a fleeting gaze upon the shapely figure of a friend’s wife, an envious thought towards a neighbour prospering!!
Jesus made it absolutely clear, that it isn’t only the sinful thought acted upon that defiles a man, but every sinful thought not acted upon also. Because left unchecked by circumstance, the law, culture or society... even those restrained sinful thoughts would be acted out in time, if such a man should attain eternity...
27 - “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’
28 - But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
19 - For from the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.
20a - These are the things that defile a man.
The fact is, that be we straight or gay... ALL ARE FALLEN and have lusts and desires contrary to God’s command. This is the result of The Fall. Now not all may suffer from sexual passions that deviate from what God had intended, for while one might sin by seeking the worship of men, others might do likewise by coveting another man’s wife, children and home... still another maybe given over to such hatred, that it makes them ill! And so on and so forth.
The problem arises for the unbeliever when recognising such traits they try to break free. Who may overcome one only to fall into another, the problem is that they are ‘only’ fallen flesh, that is why Jesus said...
You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again’.
For once a person is ‘born again’ of a new Spirit, the battle begins in earnest! Then for the first time a person has a ‘real’ choice to either walk in the oldness of the flesh or the newness of the spirit.
16 - So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
17 - For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
For unlike the Earthly man the Spiritual has both, for until Christ returns he is a Spirit walking about in corrupt flesh. Therefore if a person wishes to overcome his fallen nature... he must be ‘born again’ of a conquering spirit, that these defiling traits can be mastered and he can attain everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 - Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10 - nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 - And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Speaking of corrupting ourselves, whom none of us are the innocent children we once were. I recall watching a program about a Mexican prisoner. It wasn’t about the LGBT lifestyle or anything like that, but this guy who looked as hard as nails said...
Inside, to survive you had to team-up with others, and by doing so anal sex was part of the deal. At first I hated it, but after a while I liked it and still do it now I’m outside
In a way that guy had little choice but to be corrupted, neither knowing God nor having the liberty to escape a culture of abuse, but either way he was corrupted into a sin he was once free of. However, much of the World willingly corrupt themselves, who seated before the TV in the name of entertainment... is taught the delights of a Sodom and Gomorrah, and many other defiling values exalted today.
7 - Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
8 - For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
